Lifting – Silhouette Soft Thread Lift

Thread lifting is a type of facelift that doesn’t require invasive surgery or extensive downtime. With this procedure – sometimes referred to as ‘the lunchtime facelift’ because it can be completed in as little as an hour -, we are able to run fine threads under your skin along pre-marked contours. This process helps to raise the outer brow area, reduce jowling along the jawline, sagging in the cheeks and naso-labial (nose to mouth) folds. The sutures used are an entirely absorbed by the body, restoring collagen to your skin as they gradually break down, giving more definition to your features.

Combatting the effects of ageing above all means restoring smoother and more toned skin, but also a more shapely face. To meet this dual requirement, SILHOUETTE SOFT^® combines two effects: lifting and regenerating.

The Silhouette Soft Thread Lift^® uses a new type of suspension sutures developed specifically for the procedure. These sutures offer significantly greater lift thanks to their unique bio-resorbable cones.

The Silhouette sutures are made of a non-absorbable polypropylene strand, which holds several flexible, absorbable hollow cones. These cones allow tissue growth inside and around them, creating a much stronger anchoring mechanism compared to traditional sutures.

Polylactic acid (PLA) is the principal component of Silhouette Soft®; this is a polymer that is widely used for medical purposes because it is particularly biocompatible with human beings and also completely biodegradable. Once the suture is applied, the polylactic acid acts on the deeper layers of your skin and helps to increase the volume of saggy areas, gradually and naturally restoring shapeliness to the face gradually and perfectly naturally.

One of the most unique features of the Silhouette sutures is their ability to be retightened after a few years to provide extended longevity to the face lift.

A thread lift can be used to redefine your facial contour, make your cheeks look fuller and help your skin regains its firmness. We can also diminish the nasolabial fold, or raise the edge of the eyebrow the make your eyes appear more open. In addition, a Silhouette Soft® lift can help your neck regain its tone and smooth texture.

Silhouette soft^® is recommended for men and women of 30 and above who are trying to combat effectively the signs of ageing without the heave any invasive treatment and the desire to achieve real and natural results.

Silhouette soft^® treatment is suitable for all skin types – testing for allergic reactions proved negative in clinical studies. Nevertheless, the use of silhouette soft^® is not recommended if you are allergic or sensitive to biomaterials.

If you have severe ptosis or a great deal of excess skin, consult your doctor.

You must not use Silhouette Soft^® if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.

No special preparation is required prior to Silhouette Soft^® treatment.

However, we recommend that you discuss your expectations and ask us any questions before starting treatment. Please let us know if there are any treatments you have already received and if you are currently taking any medication.

Applying Silhouette Soft^® takes around 30 minutes. After giving you a small local anaesthetic, the doctor will insert the suture under the skin to a depth of about 3-5 millimetres. No incision is required, as the suture is inserted using a fine needle. It is held in place with absorbable cones oriented in opposite directions (bidirectional).

Once the suture has been applied, the doctor performs a slight compression of the tissue to reshape it by hand and to obtain the desired lifting effect. The non-inserted ends of the suture are cut off. One or more sutures may be applied, depending on your individual case and the area to be treated.

Silhouette Soft^® can be used as a single treatment or in combination with skin fillers and botulinum toxin.

You may experience some mild soreness and pain following the procedure. You can resume normal activities within 2-4 days, although you should expect 10 days for the skin to fully recover its natural state.

Before your treatment takes place, we will talk you through the aftercare advice and give you a handout with instructions to follow. You should use ice compresses for the first 24 – 48 hours after your treatment to help the swelling and alleviate any discomfort. Mild swelling and bruising is common but should settle quickly. You may also notice a slight wrinkling of the skin, which is required for optimisation of the treatment, but this should disappear quickly.

During the week after your treatment, do not undergo any dental surgery and avoid facial and beauty treatments. If possible, you should try to sleep on your back.

Although you should feel well recovered within a week, we would recommend against strenuous exercise and contact sports for 2-3 weeks.

If you do feel any discomfort, this can usually be managed easily with over-the-counter pain medication. You should contact us immediately if you are experiencing acute pain or think you have an infection.

In our experience, the lifting effect of this treatment is immediate and discreet, as we reshape the surface of the skin during the treatment to make it appear visibly smoother.

You will continue to see improvements after your treatment as the regenerative effects begin to show.

How long the results of your thread lift treatment last will, in part, depend on your age and how much sagging the lift corrected.

Typically, the results will last for 18 months but, as your skin continues to age, the sagging will inevitably return over time.

Although a relatively new and cutting-edge treatment, thread lifts are progressively growing in popularity. Some of the many benefits include the fact that they offer a quick recovery with minimum downtime and excellent results. The procedure requires the smallest amount of invasive surgery and leaves no scarring. You will only need a local anaesthetic and will not have to stay in hospital.
Of course, thread lifts are more affordable than a traditional facelift and the results are long-lasting.

The natural substance of Silhouette Soft^® is polylatic acid (PLA), which has been used for many years in various pharmaceutical and medical applications, such as suture thread, orthopaedic pins, and screws and nails for bone fractures.
