What does Profhilo do?

Profhilo is the first injectable, hyaluronic acid-based product for treating skin laxity, which nourishes the dermal cells and restores firmness to the skin. With one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market (64mg / 2ml), it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but it also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue.

Whilst Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid, it is not a filler. Unlike regular dermal fillers, it treats loose skin and improves sagging by tightening wrinkles rather than just filling them. This product does not add volume to the skin as regular dermal fillers do. Instead of plumping up the skin, it restores the body’s natural hyaluronic acid, leaving the skin looking tighter and rejuvenated.

Profhilo lasts in the skin around 28 days, during this time the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid, and it is this stimulation that results in significant improvement of tissue quality. The aesthetic results of the treatment last for approximately 6 months.

Profhilo can be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with Botox, fillers and Silhouette Soft Threads for a more significant result.

Profhilo is suitable for anyone over 18 years of age who is experiencing issues with skin laxity. It is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding or those who have a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid.

Profhilo is used to treat skin laxity and is ideal for those suffering with loose, wrinkled and crepey looking skin on the face, neck and arms.

Profhilo is most commonly used for the face, neck and hands but it can be used on all body areas.

Results can be seen within 4 weeks after your first treatment, although many patients may be able to see improvement after 1-2 days post-treatment while some may not see an improvement until after their second treatment. The full effect of Profhilo treatment is not seen until 8-10 weeks after your first treatment.

Profhilo is an injectable treatment but it uses a very fine needle so you should not be able to feel too much. We do offer anaesthetic numbing cream for patients who request it.

To achieve the best results you will need two treatments spaced one month apart. To maintain the results of Profhilo, it is recommended that you have a further treatment every 9-12 months.

Aftercare for Profhilo is similar to that of other injectable treatments. You can use a cold pack to reduce any redness or swelling and keep hydrated to ensure you get the best results from treatment.

The risk of side effects after Profhilo is low although you may experience mild redness, pain, itching, discolouration or tenderness at the injection sites – but such effects will soon fade.

Profhilo does not require any downtime but we advise you avoid exercise for 24 hours, extreme temperatures for 2 days, dental procedure for at least 2 weeks, and no further cosmetic treatment for at least 2 days.

The effects of Profhilo last for around 4-6 months after your second treatment. To help maintain the effects of Profhilo we recommend that you have a treatment every 9-12 months.
